EATING OUT REVIEW: Chy Liverpool

For New Year's Eve (31st December 2015), we decided to go out for a friends & family meal. While it was not what we original had planned, we went to Chy

We had booked into Red Hot World Buffet for 9.30pm, but when we got there, we were told they were only open until 10pm (which they had not made apparent on their site or at the time of booking). They offered 20% off and a 15 minute extension, but this wasn't good enough and we were left with nowhere to go for our meal.

Walking around the city centre looking for somewhere to eat, we found most places were already shut, they shut at 10.30pm or stayed open but only for those who were also there for the drinking and partying (and with children, that discounted us).

Previously, we have dined at Chy and thought it was worth giving it a go. Fortunately for us, while they weren't really allowing anyone else in, they had a cancellation and took pity on us.

I might hasten to add, they didn't need to, they were under no obligation to, but they were very welcoming.

They quickly put some tables together for us and got a highchair ready for our little man.

All of the waiters and waitresses were helpful, polite and attentive. They gave us our menus and asked us what drinks we wanted. We were promptly brought our drinks and they gave us a little longer while we decided what we would like to eat.

The drinks were a good size and served refreshingly chilled.

They had 3 fantastic set menus and at a great price - the cheapest 3 course meal being £20.95 (it was just a little more if you wanted the alternative set menus).

They are a Chinese food restaurant, which I forgot to mention earlier. We all managed to find something we wanted with ease.

Let me talk about my food in depth, as I can't really speak for everyone else (though I can tell you, not a single one of us had a complaint and thoroughly enjoyed it).

For my soup, I picked the wonton soup. I had not tried it before, but got it on the recommendation of my sister who has tried it before. I was not disappointed, it was really nice, little man shared some and definitely seemed to agree! I forgot to take a photo to show you all!

For my appetiser, I chose sesame prawn toast - absolutely delicious! And the dip complemented it just perfectly! My little man loved them too  And there was plenty as well. Here is a photo (it was served looking nicer, I just dug into it before I had taken a photo - oops!):

For my main, I had sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice. The dish was a very decent size and the flavour was just right. Everything was cooked to perfection and it was truly delicious. Sadly, I enjoyed it so much, I forgot to take a photo (which really isn't like me!).

Even though the chefs had gone on, the dedicated staff offered us a choice of desserts and did not disappoint - I'm pretty sure we were there later than when they had closed, but everyone was so kind and helpful and didn't stop until we'd finished our meal. It's so nice to see such a high standard of customer service.

For dessert I had the warm chocolate sponge cake on a bed of biscuit and served with ice cream - all I have to say is... OMG! It was absolutely delicious. Although after the generous size portions from the rest of the meal I was quite full, I could have eaten these until I literally exploded - they were that nice! I absolutely loved it. Here's a photo (again, in haste, I had started eating it before taking a photo - oops!):

We got there about 10.30pm and didn't leave until gone 1am, we saw in the New Year dining in their restaurant and it was an absolutely pleasurable experience!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere - loved it!
